All Silver Sneakers classes will be held virtually using Zoom for the winter season.  The program is free so Silver Sneakers members, but registration is required.  Please provide your Silver Sneakers number at registration.  Once registration is complete, the Zoom link will be emailed to the participants.

Fees:
Free for Silver Sneakers members with membership number
$18 for Senior Center members
$28 for non-members

Instructor:  Rikki Altruz, Certified Silver Sneakers Instructor, has taught for over 15 years and holds multiple professional certifications.

Chair Yoga
  • Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline. While stretching is certainly involved, yoga is about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific benefits.
  • We will use a chair to modify certain poses and delve deeper into other postures.

Pilates and Stability
  • Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles. Focus is on strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back.
  • Instructor will emphasize spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles, developing a strong core (toning abdominals while strengthening the back), and improving coordination and balance.

Stability
  • Stability is the newest class designed to help you become stronger and improve balance.
  • The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee and hip joints while improving reaction time. Chairs may be used for balance.
  • Meets Friday, Jan. 7-Feb. 11 from 9:00-9:45am

Strength and Balance
  • Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living.
  • Hand held weights, elastic tubing and a 8" ball are utilized, but not necessary, for resistance training.
  • A chair can be used for seated or standing support
