American Red Cross swim lessons for children are offered at the Rocky Hill High School Pool. All levels teach basic water safety and aquatic skills in a logical progression. The objective is to teach people to swim and be safe in, on and around the water.
Spring classes offered for residents only. Summer lessons are for everyone.
Basic class descriptions:
Preschool (PS) 1 for age 4, no swim experience
Preschool (PS) 2 for age 4, passed PS 1 or have some swim experience
Learn to Swim (LTS) 1 for 5-6 year olds, passed previous level or have proper skills
Learn to Swim (LTS) levels 2-3-for ages 6 and up, passed previous level or have proper skills
Class schedule:
Saturday, May 18-June 15, no class May 25
9:45-10:25am PS 1, LTS 1, LTS 2
10:30-11:10am PS 1, LTS 1, LTS 3
11:15-11:55am PS 2, LTS 1, LTS 2
$15 for 4 classes. Registration starts Monday, April 8 by calling 860-258-2772 or at the Recreation Office.
Your child must be enrolled in the appropriate level based on age and swimming ability. Please see detailed Red Cross class fact sheets below.
After the first class, all spectators are kindly asked to sit in the bleachers. After dropping your child off on the pool deck, please go up to the bleachers. Having too many people on the pool deck can be distracting to the children and instructors. We appreciate your cooperation.
