Young Chef Stirring a Bowl
Participants will receive hands-on instruction in preparing various products as well as learn about the importance of measuring, cooperation skills in the kitchen and the importance of food safety.  Classes will be held in Stew Leonard’s Executive Kitchen on the second floor of the grocery store in Newington, Conn.


  • Homemade Pasta (1/17/2018)- Postponed to 3/28/2018: Today we will learn how to make homemade pasta dough for fresh linguini, as well as homemade marinara sauce and fresh garlic bread!

  • Breakfast for Dinner! (1/24/2018): Join us on this chilly winter night as we prepare our favorite breakfast foods! On the menu: breakfast burritos, cinnamon roll pancakes with cream cheese icing, and sweet blueberry muffins!

  • Home-style Favorites (1/31/2018): Come inside and warm up in Stew Leonard’s executive kitchen as we whip up one of our favorite home-style meals including loaded beef stew, buttery cornbread, and s’mores dip!

  • All around the Dinner Table (2/7/2018)- Postponed to 3/14/2018:Today we will prepare a homemade dinner from scratch! On the menu: one-pan chicken dinner, cheesy garlic bread sticks, and sea salt chocolate chip cookies.

  • Homemade Soft Pretzels (2/21/2018): Tonight, kids will prepare homemade pretzel dough and create traditional salted pretzels, cheesy pretzel dogs, and cinnamon sugar pretzel bites with a cream cheese dip.

  • Chef Challenge (2/28/2018): It’s time to put what you’ve learned to the test! Kids will be grouped up and given a variety of ingredients to choose from. They will come up with recipes and taste test their creations at the end of the class!
